BLURB
One night changed my life forever.

Beau Bennett has been my best friend since I can remember. He was my first crush before everything came crashing down, and now he wants more, but it's more than I can give him. Things are different now. I wish I could tell him why, but I can't.

I haven’t told anyone.

I never knew how much I really needed him until the day he left for college, and I was completely alone.

Then one day, Asher Hunt rides into town with his dark, captivating eyes and cocky grin. He doesn't care who I used to be, he's simply breathing life into what’s left. People warn me to stay away from him, but he helps me forget the pain that has held me hostage for so long; something I thought was impossible before he walked into my life.

I’ve been hurt.

I’ve been saved.

And I’ve found hope.

I thought my story was written that night, but now I know it was only a new beginning. Until one secret turns my world upside down…

Again.

Ariana's Review:

6 HUGE Heartbreaking Stars!!!

Wow... just WOW. I am at a complete loss for words right now. This book was beyond incredible! I was VERY excited when I began reading this as I had been hearing many wonderful things about the story. Well, it was even better than I had been hearing! I did NOT expect the extreme emotions that the story brought on me. If you are going to read it (which I HIGHLY recommend you do) then make sure to stock up on tissues because this is one hell of a tearjerker. No, really... I mean I often cry while reading books, but nothing like this. Once the tears started, there was no turning them off. I found myself repeatedly having to stop, put down the book, and that a breather for a few minutes until I was able to collect myself (which was not an easy task). I was definitely not expecting the direction in which the story took, nor was I prepared for the blubbering mess it made me. Lisa did an exceptional job with 'When It Rains'... at times I almost believed that the events were actually happening to me, and not to a fictional character in a book. Many parts touched very close to home for me, and I was able to relate on a personal level to certain aspects.
The story follows Kate, her best friend Beau, and the new guy in town Asher. Let me just say that I. Love. Asher. His character was just WOW!

Kate had went through a very traumatic experience while in high school, which caused her to basically seclude herself away from other people. She pushed everyone she was close to away, and had a hard time letting anyone back in. And she never, ever, told anyone about what happened to her... Not her mother, not her friends, not even Beau. I cannot imagine how badly it must have eaten her up to hold it all inside. When Beau leaves for college, Kate is faced with the fact that Beau's feelings for her are more than that of just a friend... and she is not able to give him what he wants, and what he deserves.

"One night, one moment, one decision can change the whole path that our future takes."

When Kate meets Asher, people warn her to keep away from him... that he will be no good for her. But the pull she feels towards him is too strong to ignore. He knows she has something that is destroying her, and continuously pushes her out of her comfort zone in an attempt to help her get her life back. He wills her to open up to him, but yet he can't seem to let her know what has been eating away at him too. The things he does are just so sweet. You can tell they are each trying to fight this magnetic pull between them, but some things are just too strong to break.

"I want to know you. I want to know what it is that made you cry, but more than that, I want to know what I have to do to make you happy again."

Day in and day out, Asher helps chip away Kate's fear. He helps replace every bad memory she has, with good ones. He helps her touch That girl she once was, who she thought had died long ago. Asher made my heart flutter and turned my insides into mush. Why can't he be real??? Please Lisa, can you please figure out a way to bring him to life so that I can have my very own Asher? The things he did for her, even before he got to really know her, were so unbelievably touching.

"I told you that every star in the sky was made for you, and they were, Kate. You light up my world even in my darkest moments."

As Kate and Asher fall deeper and deeper into each other, and Kate finally begins to find a happiness which she never thought she would be able to feel. But when her world comes crashing down once again, can she hold onto the bit of her old self she gained back? Or will everything come crashing back down on her and drag her deeper than before?

Almost a week after I finished reading 'When It Rains', I still have a crazy book hangover. The story touched me, broke me, and tore me apart. I honestly don't think I have ever been so affected on an emotional level as I was with this book. I am not so sure I will ever look at rain the same again. This is, without a doubt, one book that should be put on everyones must read list!
