5 stars!
Holy crap! What did I just read?!?! And I mean that in the best way possible. This story was seriously intense and unlike anything I have yet to read. I am used to Lily White's writing style as I have been a HUGE fan of her books since day one. The darker and more twisted, the better in my opinion, and she has yet to fail me with one of her books. This is the first time I have heard of Jaden Wilkes, and I am certain it will not be the last. I am now adding every one of her books to my TBR as Serial was frikkin awesome! These two authors definitely work well in writing together- I couldn't even tell the story was written by two different people. The flow was superb and the story line gripped you from page one.

Serial brought you inside the head of Jude, a serial killer. This was one of the best parts about the book for me- I loved getting a look inside his sick and twisted brain. Even though he was a killer, and at times was almost unable to control his urges, there was still something about him that made me hope and pray that he could change and be good once he met a girl names Ronnie. Jude was a wealthy businessman by day, his life had all be planned out since the day he had been born... Serial killer by night- the only thing in his life that had not been predetermined. He was always very careful and meticulous about his kills, the clean up, and the disposal… that was until one girl came into his life and turned everything he thought he knew and felt upside down. For the first time in his life, Jude did not want to kill, but rather protect Ronnie from the Red he saw within his mind.

I believe I love my victims. Something about each and every one of them calls to me, draws me in and makes me fall in love.

I just happen to destroy the things that I love.

Ronnie- a sweet girl who comes from nothing. She works as a waitress and lives in the bad part of town. A chance encounter at her job leaves both her, and Jude unable to shake the recurring thoughts of one another. When Jude seemingly saves Ronnie from a horrible situation, Ronnie begins to feel relaxed and trusting of Jude- the only problem is she knows nothing of the monster which lives inside him.

There is a third character who's POV comes into play in this story, and that is Detective Donnovan Blake- he is on the case of tracking down the Cascades Butcher (Jude) and finally put an end to his twisted desires and killings. Throughout the book it seems like he is a good guy, trying to save the woman of the world from a mad man, but the further you get into the story, the more you get the feeling that there is so much more to this man than what you are shown. I am insanely curious as to how his character will play out in the upcoming books in this series.

This is not the first time I have read one of Lily White's books and was left feeling so wrong for loving the main male character in the story, and it's one of the things I love about all of her work. The ability to take a twisted man whom you know you should hate for all the bad he does, yet turn him into something you end up loving.

Just a fair warning. This book is not for those with a queasy stomach. If blood, gore, darkness, mind fuckery or anything else along these lines bother you, then this book is not for you. There are a couple parts that left me wide eyed wondering WHAT THE FUCK?! And it is definitely not for the faint of heart. However, if you love suspense, mind games, blood & gore, and all things dark, then this book is for you!
