It's taken me a few days to wrap my head what to write for my review. Yes, Breaking Kate is that good! And, it's D.Kelly's debut book! She gave me a book that when I thought I knew what was coming next, that never happened!!
Katherine and Michael have just graduated high school getting ready to start college. They are so in love and already preparing their future together. They are it for each other. Then, tragedy hits Michael and his family. Katherine wants to be there for Michael and he wants nothing to do with her. He goes off and leaves never turning around. It kills Katherine.
Fast forward 3yrs Katherine who goes by Kate now is finishing up college. Is living with her best friend Jessica who she's been friend with since high school. Kate does nothing except go to school & study. She's going to try and graduate as a double major. She has plans on what she wants to life to be. And, ever since Michael there hasn't been any other guy for her.
Jessica sucker's Kate into going to a guy named Connor party. Luckily, for Jess Kate & Connor have become best friends. They're more like brother & sister. And, she knows Connor & Jess have a thing for each other so she agrees to go. They also plan on setting her up with Connor's best friend. Who is also dealing with a bad break-up. So neither of them are looking for relationships.
The minute Kate & Daniel meet they both were taken back with the other one. Of course it didn't start off perfect. But, still. They spent all night talking and getting to know each other. Their conversation came easily to both of them. It was crazy to both of them. Unfortunately, Daniel lives a few hours away. So, they have to say goodbye rather quickly. But, with text messages & phone calls it'll have to do.
Daniel & Kate become boyfriend/girlfriend very quickly!! With them now being a couple and Connor & Jess now dating they are 4 very happy people. Daniel really is the perfect guy! Even though he's not there every day. He makes a point to let Kate know she's on his mind. If it's flowers, candy or coffee being delivered to her. Kate always knows she's on his mind.
I loved getting Daniel's POV as well as Kate's. I always love a guy's POV! But, getting Daniel's you see just how much he loves her and would do anything for her. And, both Kate and Daniel are scared because their relationship is moving super fast. But, Jessica, Connor and everyone else in their lives keep telling them to just go with it.
Kate has never hidden anything from Daniel. Including Michael. Kate also feels she needs to find him. Kate feels like she has to have closure with Michael. There was some stuff that happened after she saw him last that he has a right to know about. Does Daniel agree? Hell NO! But, for Kate he'll support her. Because, they belong together. They are each other's other half, their happily ever after. And, nothing or nobody will come in between them.
Until a family occasion happens. There's a whole part of Kate, Daniel & Connor's lives that come out. Now, if that was the worst part. Michael shows up. But, not by anything your thinking. Not, only does it break Kate all over again. It breaks everyone in the circle! I honestly don't think Kate can handle much more. I know I wouldn't be able to handle 1/2 of what she has.
Now beware there is a cliffhanger! And, what a cliffhanger it was. I thought I knew how it was ending. But, I was wrong. I can not wait to open up the next book. But, I'm not sure my heart can handle that much more.
This was such a fantastic debut book. It has everything in it. Every emotion. I'd literally be crying one minute to crying from laughing so hard. It was fantastic. My heart broke when Kate's did and healed with it. Daniel is def someone I'd like to get set up with! Dee definitely has a new fan for life in me. That's for sure!!
