✯Review✯ MAVERICK by Chelsea Camaron

Blurb
Invisible – Unseen

He was the high school crush who never knew I existed. I am still the girl hiding against the wall.
Life for Kenzy Davis is far from easy right now. After ending a long term relationship, she is back in her hometown, starting over.
Maverick Collins works hard and plays even harder. An invisible illness shakes his world at its core as his father fights for his life. Everything he ever took for granted stares him in the face, including the shy girl from his past.
Watching someone you love battle an illness is never easy. When the ICU nurse caring for his dad is the one girl from his past he saw around but overlooked, does Maverick find comfort in her embrace? Does Kenzy find a new calm in the chaos of her life? Or do their feelings remain invisible yet again?

5 STARS!!!
Let me start off my giving my one negative before I jump in to how seriously awesome this story was… It was super short. Now, this is my ONLY negative, and bear in mind it's because I am selfish and didn't want the story to end because I fell in love with the characters so much in such a short time.

Now, with that being said, there was not one thing about the actual story itself that I did not like. It has such incredibly strong characters that were just down to earth and easy to relate to. The writing was very well done, and the author did a great job in conveying the characters emotions so that you felt for them. Where it was not a bawl your eyes out sad book, there were a handful of times that I found my eyes tearing up. There were a couple scenes that had me giggle (for example… the first time Maverick ran into (literarily) Kenzy afar she moved back to her hometown), and one particular scene that got me all hot and bothered. I may or may not have soaked through a pair of my undies, and then messaged the author to tell her that there should be a disclaimer with this book warning you that you may ruin your undies LOL.

Kenzy decides to move back to her hometown after finally having enough of her boyfriend of five years being a total asshat. As if his inability to keep it in his pants wasn't bad enough, he also knocked up two of her co-workers! Once home, she begins to realize everything she thought she had with her ex had been a lie, and you see her grow and move on. Despite the crap she went through, she is still one of the sweetest and most caring women.
A night out with her best friend leads Kenzy into the arms of Maverick "Tapper"… her old high school crush. With a reputation of being a bit of a cocky womanizer, he's the exact opposite of what Kenzy should be drawn to. After their encounter on the dance floor, she steers clear of Maverick, knowing he is nothing but trouble and she is not about to be another name on his long list of conquests.
One day while at work at the hospital, Kenzy meets her new patient Richard who just had his leg amputated due to diabetes, who ends up being none other than Mavericks father! As Kenzy begins to form a bond with Richard, her and Maverick also begin to form one. The way she cares for Maverick's father beyond her work duties is just heartwarming. Through all his horrible struggles Kenzy is there by his side to help him get through it.

This story was touching, heartbreaking, heartwarming and just so "real". You can tell that the story is something the author holds close to her heart, and she really poured herself into it.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series! I can only hope that we will down the line get more Kenzy and Maverick because their story is one of the sweetest yet.
