This book picks up right where A Stone In The Sea ends. We know Sebastian AKA Baz to everyone close to him is laying low. Martin Jennings has made his life miserable over and over again. But, he's found love and peace with Shea and her adorable daughter Kallie. Deep down he knew Shea was keeping something from him. But, their relationship had moved super fast so they were still in the learning phase. Baz has told Shea everything.
Before Shea has a chance to tell Baz the truth about who she really is. And, tell him he's not the only one with secrets and hiding there's a knock on the door. Neither one were prepared for who was going to enter the car at the end of the driveway. Martin Jennings is there and he's ready for a war. Baz is frozen at the scene unfolding in front of him. Martin is not there for him but for Kallie!! He is Kallie biological father. WHAT!!?? Yes, you read that right.
Baz is so screwed up. Even more then before. Baz is in love with Shea. But, he's been burned so bad multiple times. But, this is something he's not prepared for. Not only is he livid she lied to him. He's pissed at himself. Jennings warned him that he'd be sorry. He feels like he shoulda listened to his gut and left Shea alone.
Shea's not too shocked the demon in her dreams has showed back up. She knew he'd always been hiding around the corner just waiting. And, when she found out who Baz was and his story she should've known. But, she believed in Baz and her love to stick with it. Baz doesn't know what to think so he leaves.
Luckily for Baz he has a huge support team behind him. His band mates Ash, Zeke and Lyrik along with manager/good friend Anthony along with Austin his younger troubled brother. They remind him that Jennings is a snake in the grass out for blood. That Shea and Kallie are worth fighting for. No matter what. Not to give up on what they have. It was worth fighting for.
With Baz and Shea back on the same team along with the rest of the guys. Everyone is ready for a fight. A fight they don't plan on loosing.Just when they thought they knew what they were up against they realized they were wrong. Dead wrong!! Shea had been connected to the band years ago and non of them realized it. Or did they??
Man oh man!! A.L. Jackson wrote such an incredible story. It was filled with so much emotion the good the bad the funny and the ugly. All rolled up into one crazy insanely awesome book!! Every book she writes I am totally left going "OMG! Did that really just happen?" "Man, she did it to me again" Hahahaha.. I am never disappointed when I read a A.L. Jackson book. In this book, just when I thought I knew everything I was seriously wrong. There was a whole other part of the story that was missing for me and especially for Baz. He had been having 100's of questions in his head that he could never ask. One because the person didn't survive and the other person wasn't strong enough to answer. I can not wait to read the rest of the guys stories in this series.
Excerpt:
My brow pinched, because this fucking hurt. Hurt that Shea had been resisting confiding in me because of who I was. A fucking loose cannon. Someone prone to violence. And there it was, right beneath the surface, fire flaming and licking and begging for release.
My voice was tight. “Made you a promise I’d protect you, Shea. Live for you. And that’s exactly what I’m gonna do. You and Kallie? You’re my life. My everything. And I will do anything…give up anything…to make sure you two are together. I won’t let him win.”
She brushed the back of her hand over the wetness on her cheeks. “He will do anything to break us apart…to separate us. He knows we’re weaker alone. All his words about taking us down at the same time?”
Her head shook with bitterness and hate, something so foreign on my girl’s face, but I saw it there—the atrocities he’d committed—the things she still kept inside.
The scars she wore on her heart while I wore mine on my skin.
“It’s a tactic. A ploy. He thinks he can fill us with threats. Convince our subconscious into believing together we’re easy targets. But, no.” Her eyes drew together as she refuted the idea, as she spilled her own belief. “He’s a coward. A coward. Someone who allows others to carry out his crimes and then lords it over them as if he is the one exerting control.”
That brave chin quivered. “I gave him my submission for so long, and I refuse to ever be that girl again. I was her, Sebastian. I was weak.”
Strength filled the profession. “But I’m not weak anymore. And I’m even stronger with you by my side.”

About The Author:
She first found a love for writing during her days as a young mother and college student. She filled the journals she carried with short stories and poems used as an emotional outlet for the difficulties and joys she found in day-to-day life.
Years later, she shared a short story she’d been working on with her two closest friends and, with their encouragement, this story became her first full length novel. A.L. now spends her days writing in Southern Arizona where she lives with her husband and three children.
