✯5 Smokey Stars!!!

Man, do i love this series!! There's nothing about this series that I don't like. Well, maybe that I have to wait for the next book to release. I'm not a patient person lol. Emily & Shelley are the perfect writing duo.

Layton "Smoke" Roundtree and Gidget Etheridge have grown up together being that their fathers are both in the Grim Bastards MC. They're in love and are planning on getting married. Once they plan on getting married Gidget plans on going to community college for nursing and Layton joining the MC. Until one night Gidget is blindsided when Smoke breaks up with her and throws her out of the clubhouse.

They haven't seen or heard from each other since that night. Gidget had moved away to get her nursing degree, got married  and had her son Parker. Now, she's divorced and it's just her and her son. With her father and brother missing, not that she's complaining. Gidget moves into the house she grew up in. It doesn't start off as welcoming to her as she runs into someone looking for her father. They take out their frustrations on Gidget and leave.

Smoke has only ever loved Gidget. It's why he's never taken an Old Lady of his own. It belongs to Gidget. When him, Boz and Hack head to her house they weren't expecting to find her there or beaten up badly. Smoke brings Gidget and Parker to the clubhouse to keep them safe.Smoke refuses to let Gidget slip from his hands again.

This was just as good as the previous books. This really was a second chance romance story. Gidget and Smoke really loved each other and are perfect for each other. Just like the men before Smoke, he's the perfect alpha male, loving and caring all while being nasty and filthy in bed. Gidget is such a strong woman. She's the perfect woman to sit at Smoke's side as his Old Lady.

Emily and Shelley are one of my favorite co-writers. You never know who's written what part. They have come up with an incredible MC storyline over the last 4 books. Just when I thought they couldn't surprise me. I read this and OMG I def wouldn't wanna get on their bad side. After reading what Smoke did I'm afraid to see who came up with it lol. They better be hurrying up with Hack's story. BC, again I'm inpatient and I don't wanna wait too much longer for it.

We are just stepping into the yard when my phone rings. I pick up my phone and see Smoke’s name on the screen. My anger at Round’s confession comes back full force as I put it to my ear.

“Hello,” I say, unable to hide my fury.

“What the hell is going on, Gidget? What’s the matter? Are you and Parker okay?” he asks, his voice hard.

He throws the questions at me so quick, it almost makes my head spin. “Nothing’s wrong. Why do you ask?”

“Don’t fucking lie to me, Gidget. Hack just called and said Dad was walking you and Parker out of the clubhouse.”

My anger retreats when I realize he was worried about us. Richard never worried about us, never even asked how our day went. Smoke, on the other hand, is checking in from the road. As irritating as it is, it’s always sweet as hell.

Pulling in a deep breath, I explain what we’re doing. He asks a million questions, making sure Parker and I have everything we need. Each thing he says has my heart warming toward him. I have to remind myself that he’s the one who broke it all those years ago. Still, watching my son play with Round, I realize he did me a favor. Maybe I’ll do him a favor and forgive him when he gets back, but not before we have a long talk.

“Fine, don’t stay out there too long. I’ll give you ten minutes to get your ass back in bed. If not, I’ll be calling my dad to make sure you get there,” he’s warns, ending our conversation without even a goodbye.

Before I even put it away, it’s ringing again. I see Smoke’s name again and bring it back to my ear. “Hello.”

“Tell Dad there’re some balls around back in the shed. He can pull them out for Parker.” With that, he hangs up, not bothering to say goodbye again.

For some reason, my lips are tipping up as I slide my phone into my pocket.
