Synopsis

They say most people meet the person they will marry while in high school. Balancing one another perfectly, Holly Ryan and Declan James were together through most of college—until their relationship blew up, leaving Declan with more questions than answers. For the past two years, Declan has tried everything he can think of to earn Holly’s forgiveness, but even if he manages to help her let go of the past and give them another chance at happiness, she still has a secret. Not to mention, she can’t get over the revolving door of women he seems to have coming in and out of his apartment. Declan is desperate to prove to Holly she’s the one for him and isn’t above using his celebrity status or enlisting the help of their friends to win her back. All’s fair in love and war, right?

✯✯5 Second Chance Stars!!!✯✯

A new book by D. Kelly and its another hit! This was a standalone and I couldn't put it down. Most of Dee's books are tear jerkers. This one wasn't, instead I ended up laughing out loud from the main characters and their two best friends.

Holly met Declan when she was 14yrs old. They started out as friends until 16 and dated for years before taking it to the next step. They were together all the way up until middle of college years when they got into a fight over a misunderstanding and it resulted in Declan breaking up with Holly.

Two years has passed and Declan  has regretted breaking up with Holly. He figured if he moved in across the hall from her and bring women in and out of his apartment she'd eventually take him back. Its obvious he doesn't know women all that well lol.

Declan doesn't have your normal Mon-Fri 9-5 job. Nope, he makes all his money through social media. He's a YouTuber kind of guy. Makes videos and also does live videos where he rambles his thoughts. One night he professes his love for her and his need to be with her.

Holly has always loved Declan. He was her first love and wanted him to be her last. But, on night everything changed. One of Holly's  worst days ever and while waiting for Declan she is with her best friend Sage until he gets home. Sage and Holly are having a conversation and Declan hears some of it and it blows outta proportion.

If that wasn't bad enough its continued getting worse for Holly. Declan has moved across the hall from her. He's paraded woman and after woman in and out of his apartment since he moved in across the hall from her.

Holly just wants Declan to stop. Wants him to stop bringing the woman back to his apartment and shoving into her face. When Holly hears his declaration of love for her on his channel. Unfortunately Declan doesn't know the meaning of no.

Declan and Holly make a deal. Declan has to cut off all physical contact with other woman and Holly will go on weekly dates with him.

I legit couldn't put this down. It was obvious from the beginning that they were in love. But, then add in their past into the story and there's so much more learned.

Both come from broken homes. Holly living with her dad and Declan living with his mom. They understood each other and supported each other.

I must talk about their best friends. Baxter and Sage. They're 4 best friends. When they broke up Holly made the decision it had to split too. Holly got Sage and Declan got Baxter. Sage reminds myself a lot of me with the crazy nasty things that come outta my mouth.

But, it was Declan and Baxter's friendship that truly truly shined in this book. Baxter is gay and very open.  But, he wasn't always. I won't say or give anything away. But, the way Declan handled things was great. Even things Declan did for Baxter so he always had a wingman aren't things most straight guys wouldn't think of doing. But, Declan being the man and friend he is didn't think twice. Beautiful and hot!

All in all it is another must read from Dee and I'm super glad I read it. It's a true standalone. Even though I would've loved Sage and Baxter to get a book. I'm still happy with how those two story ended. I am looking forward to Dee's next book.
